This California Grizzly Bear is the official state animal and appear's on the state flag. It is now extinct, as the last California Brown Bear was shot in 1922. However, black bears still live in the mountainous regions of California. In 1866, a grizzly weighing 2,200 pounds was killed in Valley Center, California, and is the largest grizzly killed in California.Print Collection has commissioned artist Julian Montague to create our State of America series.
