Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch, Brooklyn, N.Y., photographed by the Detroit Publishing Co, in 1904 on 8x10 in. glass plate negative.
Having walked past this memorial many times, I just have not appreciated the detail and symbolism of this arch. A popular area to meet up before going into the park. The memorial to falen soldiers of the Civil War was created by John H. Duncan and built at the cost of $250,000 between 1889 and 1892. The sculptures designed by Frederick MacMonnies.
